Letters From The Bay, Week 12: Hardly Strictly Oh Hell No!

Part III: Plaidtastic
It was getting late.  We had tromped from stage to stage, toting our cooler and snacks all the live long day.  The sun had gone down, we had come down, and it was starting to get chilly in the forest.
And by chilly I mean effing freezing, naturally.  San Francisco summers are notoriously cold, [...]

It seemed like a good idea at the time

Note to self: the next time you have a good job that pays well and does NOT require you to work until midnight, you should keep it.
Exchanging it for a job where you DO have to work until midnight is not a good idea.
It might seem like it is, but it’s not.
If you ever have [...]

Congratulations no exclamation mark

Dear Comcast:
Some of us are trying to work.  You know work?  That thing that you do, at that place, and they pay you for it?
For me, “that thing” happens to be writing, editing, planning, and researching.
“That place” happens to be at my dining room table, until I make my move out West in a couple [...]

It’s hard to be good

Here’s what I want: a Bonzai Burger (veg, of course) from Red Robin, accompanied by the usual suspects: vanilla milkshake and bottomless steak fries with ranch dressing.  And when I say bottomless, I mean to tell you that basket better be less a bottom, because french fries are the biz and I am very serious about my [...]

My story is much too sad to be told

And practically everything leaves me suddenly cold. *
Yes, that’s right.  It has snowed.  Yet again.
Upon backing out of my driveway this morning, I saw my neighbor’s beautiful red and gold tulips were capped with white, like little hats.  They were fancy, those tulips, and clearly had put on their hats to do something fun.  Off to the opera [...]

The Mister: 201?

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury: The Mister has…made a reappearance of sorts.
More information to come.
After I’m done processing what this means.
And after I’ve located all the missing pieces of my heart, which was thoroughly crushed, and shattered into approximately one thousand forty seven point two pieces after the last time.
I think I see a [...]

And by the by…

I hear you, and I apologize for not posting for a week.
This week has been a flood of emotions, and I’ve been a hot mess.  And I’m pretty sure the internet has enough of those already.
Engagements, deaths, inner-office drama, and $64 million dollars have all entered my realm of existence this week and I can barely [...]

Confession Session, Part One: On Men and Searching For The Up

Dear Internet,
Here’s the thing – I have neglected you.  I do this, periodically, because I am either a) having a super amazing time in my life and am too busy living said life to blog about it, or b) the more frequent reason, having a less than super amazing time and am too sad to [...]

Bugged

I have a white paper lantern in my room.
I know, I know.  But it’s too cold to picnic right now, and also, I’m not attending a garden party or a Japanese wedding anytime soon.  So in my room it stays.
There is also a fly in my room.  A fly who is either too stupid [...]

Embarrassment in bulk

It was all his fault, really.
David Sedaris’s, I mean.  He brought it up, and after he said it, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. And that is what led to my undoing.
I attended his reading at Macky Auditorium in Boulder last night as part of a birthday present from my mom.  I love, LOVE David [...]
